OBITUARY FROM THE POLK COUNTY ENTERPRISE: McDonald
Services were held from the Chapel of the Pace Funeral Home on Friday, July 14th, 1972, at 10 a.m. for Auddie Affolee McDonald, with the Rev. David Michael officiating. Rev. Michael was assisted by the Rev. Johnny Norwood. Interment was in the Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, Texas. Mrs. McDonald was born the daughter of W. H. and Mary Wilson Oates. A native of Polk County, she was born at Hortense, Texas. Early in life she moved with her family to Leggett, Texas. Mrs. McDonald attended the Leggett and Livingston schools. In 1910, she was married to S. F. McDonald at Leggett. To this union was born 6 children, 2 survive. The McDonalds moved to Livingston in 1929 and organized the McDonald Machine Shop. The business is still in the family under the direction of a son-in-law. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Eastern Star and the Central Baptist Church. Survivors include: one son, William Claburn "Billy" McDonald of Dallas, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Rachael Campbell of Livingston, Texas; 2 brothers, Ernest C. Oates of Trinity, Texas, J. H. Oates of Austin, Texas; 3 sisters, Mrs. Allie McCarley of Kilgore, Texas, Mrs. Ivy Bell Ingram of Atoy, Texas, Miss Addie Oates of Rusk, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were: Bob Pinkard, Otis Williams, Sidney Pridgen, Chesley Richards, Louis Campbell and Dick Campbell.
