Jesse (Jake) Oates, age 84, of Rollingwood, passed away Friday.
He was employed for 23 years with the Texas State Board of Insurance. He was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club, and also was a member of Hill City Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Oates.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Ellen Oates; son, Sammy Oates, Sr. and wife, Brenda, both of Austin; one sister, Mrs. Allie McCarley of Kilgore; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service 4:00 P.M. Sunday at Wilke-Amey-Clay Funeral Home, with Reverend Steven Wright officiating. Burial: Capital Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Rick Castaneda, Lee Lancaster, Harry Yant, Roy Jackson, Frank Wawak, John Sherlow. Honorary pallbearers are Ernie Rey, Bob Boddy and Steve Smith.
Services under the direction of Wilke-Amey-Clay Funeral Home.
