THOMAS PURCELL DEAD
A telegram received here Monday afternoon announced the death of Thomas Purcell in the hospital in Boston. The deceased left Milltown upwards of 30 years ago and would be aged 72. One daughter, Mrs. Helen Gray, resides in Camden, Maine,, three brothers in Milltown, MICHAEL, James and Dennis and a sister Miss Mae Purcell, a brother Francis resides in New York. Arrangements have been made to have the funeral in Boston. (St. Croix Courier, Oct 10, 1940)
Genealogy note:
Dennis and Johanna Bresnahan - Purcell were married in Ireland.
They immigrated from Tralee, County Kerry in 1864, with their baby Michael to Milltown, New Brunswick, Canada, where Johanna's brother Michael Bresnahan was already living and working.
Johanna Bresnahan Purcell left home on July 8, 1864, on Saturday and sailed on the 16th of July, 1864, from liverpool, and landed on Saturday, the 25th of August, 1864, and came to St. Stephen, the 29th of August, 1864.
Dennis went to work on the 3rd of September, 1864.
