Emma Venora Arnold Stone was the fourth of seven children of Mississippi natives William Arnold and Sarah Jane Dowdney. On Christmas Eve 1895 in Smith County, Texas, Venora became the bride of M. B. Stone. They were the parents of Buna Viana (Mrs. Allen Jackson Rasberry, Sr.) of Marshall; George Otis Stone who predeceased her in 1954; Sarah Adeline "Addie" Stone (Mrs. George Louis McBride) of Claiborne County, Miss.; and Helen/Ellen Coe Stone (Mrs. Oliver Primm) of Cold Spring. She was also the devoted grandmother of eight and adoring great-grandmother of 18.

For many years Emma was the faithful and loving helpmeet to her husband, the Rev. M. B. Stone, as he conducted the duties of his calling as a Methodist minister.

Emma Stone is remembered as a sweet woman who loved nothing more than preparing a wonderful repast for her loved ones. Just as her older brother, William Arnold, she inherited nerve deafness which forced the speaker to yell in the hope that she might have heard something being spoken.

Not one to be held back, she did not allow her hearing affliction to impair her life. Emma Arnold Stone grew old with style.
