Services for Austin Lee Purdy, 86, of Kingsland, formerly of Lubbock, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel with Gerald Purdy officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.

He died Friday, April 5, 2002.

He was born Dec. 7, 1915, in Motley County. His first wife, Treva Lyle, preceded him in death. He married Edith Bishop in 1946. She also preceded him in death. He married Elizabeth Oats Franklin on Dec. 18, 1971, in Lubbock.

He had been a resident of Kingsland since 1980. He graduated from Flomot High School in 1936. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was in the 21st Photographic Squadron and was stationed in China for two years. He also was a member of the Flying Tigers before they became the 14th Air Force.

He was a member of the Walnut Creek Methodist Church. He was a member of the Kingsland Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was a partner of Purdy Brothers Garage from 1946 until he retired in 1973.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Gerald of Waco; two daughters, Austene Clark of Jal, N.M., and Judy Tanner of Phoenix; two brothers, Neal and Odell, both of Lubbock; two sisters, Audrey Kimbell of Amarillo and Vera Williamson of Enid, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
