She was born March 1, 1902 in Ogden, Utah, to Henry Chariton Jacobs and Emma Rigby Jacobs. She had 12 brothers and sisters. She received her ele-mentary and high school education in Ogden, UT. She attended Brigham Young University. She married Charles P. Lloyd on October 1, 1925. He passed away in February of 1928, leaving three children: the late Norma Lloyd Dean (Ross) deceased, and twins Charles P. Lloyd, (Alta) of Kaysville, Utah and Charlene L. Mulkey of Costa Mesa, California.
Shortly after Charles Lloyd's death, Oa continued her studies at Brigham Young University (BYU) and supported her young family through teaching at the Commerce Department. On August 5, 1936 she married Paul B. Cannon in the Salt Lake Temple. Two daughters were born of this marriage, Lynne Cannon Morgan (Kent) of Gaithersberg, Maryland and Kathryn Cannon Romney (Leonard) presently serving as mission president over the Russia, Moscow South mission.
Oa was an active member of the LDS Church. She taught in most of the auxiliaries of the Church, including Seminary on released time. She served in Ward and Stake M.I.A. organizations as well as in the presidency of a Stake M.I.A. Board in Provo, Utah. She was active in PTA and worked in civic fund drives for many years. She was president and a member of the Alice Louise Reynolds Literary Club for many years. She belonged to the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. For a number of years she continued her education at the University of Utah.
Oa served on the Relief Society General Board for nearly ten years. In 1958 she began genealogical research for the Jacobs, Stringham and Lloyd families. At the request of the BYU Library, she wrote a history of her grandfather, Henry Bailey Jacobs. This was followed by a request from the Relief Society General Board for a history of her grandmother, Zina Diantha Huntington Jacobs Young. She and her nephew, David Henry Jacobs, prepared Zina's history for that organization.
In addition to one brother, J. Smith Jacobs of Orem, Utah, Oa is survived by four of her children as mentioned above: 21 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 6, 2001 at 12 noon in the 13th ward chapel, 100 South 400 East, Salt Lake City. Friends may call Sunday, August 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City and Monday at the ward from 10-11:30 a.m. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
