2nd Great Grand Aunt

I don't know why so many people have her middle name as Amelia when her middle initial is 'R'.

Cynthia R., wife of Rev. William Berry, was born September 25, 1832, departed this life at her home in Glen Allen August 23, 1903.
Sister Berry was first joined in marriage to Henry D. Whitener in 1849; to this union was born one child. In August, 1854, she was married to Rev. Wm. Berry, her surviving husband, and to this union were born twelve children, four having passed over the River; among these was Dr. P.J. Berry, late of Glen Allen.
Sister Berry professed faith in Christ and united with the Methodist church in 1878, and lived a faithful Christian. She was much devoted to her family; a devoted wife and a loving mother. She was a great stay to her husband both in his temporal and religious life.
The worth of a good christian wife and mother in the home is untold, and no home can be what it ought to be without the Christ spirit governing the life of the home.
She and her husband, Rev. Wm. Berry, left their country home some two years ago and moved to Glen Allen where Mr. Berry is the senior partner in the firm of Berry & Son, mercantile business, as they were growing old, in order to seek relief from the active cares of life and just as matters were well arranged for this, the call of death came, tho at an unexpected hour. It was here the silver cord of life severed and the golden bowl was broken and Sister Berry fell on sleep.
The burial service was conducted by the writer, assisted by Bro. J.H. Yount, in the presence of a large number of sorrowing relatives and friends, after which her body was laid to rest in the Glen Allen cemetery to await the call of God....R. WALTON
