Effie C. Carr
Effie C. CARR, 60, 806 East 12th street, died at 1:25 a.m. today in Memorial hospital in South Bend. She had been ill five months.
Born Jan. 11, 1914 in Ora, Ind., she was the daughter of Marion and Anna OWL BURKET. Her marriage was Sept. 1, 1927 at Knox to Lester H. CARR. He preceded in death Oct. 9, 1947. She had lived most of her life in the Rochester area. She was a member of the Evergreen Rebekah lodge 57 of Rochester, Past Noble Grand club and the Mothers of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are three sons, Marion J. CARR, Lakeland, Fla.; Lester [CARR], Logansport, and Roland [CARR], of Plymouth; one daughter, Mrs. Jay (Hilda May) THOMAS, Danford, Ill.; twenty-two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edna GREEN, Rochester, and Mrs. Moses (Dolla) KUHN, Logansport; two brothers, Alfred and Cecil BURKET, both of Ora.
Final rites will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Rochester Church of God. The Rev. C. J. MOWRER will officiate. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call at the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home after 7 p.m. Saturday. The Evergreen Rebekah lodge will conduct memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
