A wake service for Albert L. "Bert" Lang will be held 7 p.m., Wed., at Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 a.m., Thurs., June 30, at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. Burial with military honors by the VFW 5th District Rifle Squad will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wed. 1-8 p.m.

Bert died Mon., June 27, 2005, at Claremore Regional Hospital at the age of 80. The son of Peter and Katherine (Rome) Lang was born Jan. 26, 1925, in St. Peter, KS. He grew up on a farm and attended school at St. Peter. Bert served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Nov. 5, 1947, Bert married Agatha Angela "Aggie" Pfannenstiel in Collyer, KS.

A Kansas resident for 52 years, he and his brother, Clarence, ran a Standard Gas Station in Atwood, KS. Bert, Aggie and family then moved to Colby, KS, where he worked as a mechanic at Jack Fitzsimmons Car Dealership. He then went to work at Red Tiger Irrigation, and later to Gifford Hill Irrigation where he did maintenance work. In 1977, he was transferred to Claremore. He retired from Erlanger Tubular Corp. in 1990, and continued working by repairing small engines.

Bert was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. When he was able he enjoyed playing baseball, softball, horseshoes, fishing, and making wooden clocks. While in Kansas, Bert played on a bowling league. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6882 & American Legion Post 0363.

Survivors include wife, Aggie of the home; children: Gerald Lang of Claremore, Sharon Redmond and husband, Tom of Colby, KS, and Ronald Lang and wife, Deborah of Junction City, KS; sisters: Regina Dreiling of Hutchinson, KS, Severina Rizzolo of Dearfield, IL, Anna Rohleder of Northbrook, IL, Leona Stone of Canby, OR, Flo Meier of Hoxie, KS, Armella Kinderknecht of Buffalo Grove, IL; grandchildren: Scott Lang of Halstead, KS, Shawn Lang of Junction City, KS, Nikki Uhrich of Oakley, KS, and Sarah Redmond of Colby, KS; and great-granddaughter, Harley Lang of Halstead, KS.

Bert is preceded in death by his parents, Katherine and Peter Lang; brothers: Wendeline Lang, Peter Lang, Jr., Alvin Lang, and Clarence Lang; and sisters: Albina Topf and Effie Forbis.
