Martha Lucretia “Lou” Johnson married Jacob Cross on 28 December 1882 at Weatherford, Texas. The couple moved to Young County, Texas in 1891. Mrs. Cross had lived five miles north of Loving, Texas ever since. She died at the home of a daughter where she was making her home.

Services for Mrs. Martha Lou Cross, 86, were held at the Baptist Church at Loving, Texas.

Survived by two sons - Joe Cross and Roy Cross; three daughters - Mrs. Lloyd Hawkins, Mrs. David Mayes, Mrs. Erwin Jennings; one brother - John Johnson; 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren.
