HUBBARD --- Final rites were held early this week for Mrs.. Alice S. Grover Thomas, 87, who died last Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Vera Baskerville, in Des Moines.
Mrs. Thomas was born June 22, 1867, near Traer in Tama County, Iowa, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Grover. She had two sisters and five brothers.her childhood was lived on the farm in Tama county, and her schooling was in the rural schools near her home. On September 15, 1887, she was united in marriage with Daniel Thomas. To them was born five children. They farmed for a number of years, after which they resided in Cedar Falls, moving thee in 1896, and in Iowa Falls from 1908 until 1930. During the past two years Mrs. Thomas has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Edna Granner, in Hubbard. Mrs. Thomas was a loyal member of the Order of Eastern Star; she was also affiliated with the Iowa Falls Methodist church. She was a good mother and homemaker, loving her family and helpful to her neighbors. Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, both of her sisters, four of her brothers, and two of her children. Among those who survive are two daughters; Mrs. Edna Granner of Hubbard and Mrs. Vera Baskerville of Des Moines; one son, George, of Lascaster, Penn., and one brother Curtis Grover, of Inver Grove, Minn. Four grandchildren and Five great-grandchildren will also miss her as will her friends and neighbors.
