Revolutionary War Veteran. Fought at the Battle of Cowpens 1781. He was the husband of Jane Wells (1750- 1835). They were the parents of Robert Burbridge
(1779 - 1846).

From the obituary found in the Ohio newspaper which is pictured on this site, we also know that Rowland was at the Battle of Point Pleasant in October 1774 as a member of the Virginia Militia. It was also called the Battle of Kanawha and was the only major action of Dunmore's War fought between the Virginia Militia and Shawnee and Mingo tribes along the Ohio River near modern Point Pleasant in West Virginia. The Virginians lost 75 killed and 140 wounded. Indian losses could not be determined. Among those Indians killed was Pucksinwah, the father of Tecumseh.
