Born in Matakulliyah, Colombo, Ceylon, son of Rev Henry Robert PIGOTT, Baptist Missionary, and Ellen GILES; educated in Blackheath, London; emigrated to N.S.W., 1884; worked for the Australian Joint Stock Bank, 1884-1899, at Grafton, Cooma, Milton, Wingham, and from 1893 as Manager at Blayney; in business as a Stock and Station Agent, and Auctioneer, Blayney, 1899-1932; Member of the House of Representatives for the N.S.W. Division of Calare, for the Liberal Party, 1913-1919; "retired" to his grazing property, "Cadara" near Tottenham, 1932, but keeping his residence in Blayney for the summers; retired to Fairlight Crescent, Manly, 1945.
