Lula Venora was born in Roanoke, Virginia on Sep 3, 1872. She was born to Sarah Elizabeth Bettie Campbell 1852 – Sep 8, 1876 and William "Bill ie" Washington Miller Dec 22, 1854 - Feb 1, 1926.

Lula's known siblings were R. L. and J. C. Miller (being half brother).

On Dec 24, 1889 she entered into marriage with George Dunsmore Atkins; son of Lucy Jane Patsel Nov 6, 1839 – Apr 1916 and Evans Washington Atkins Mar 1837 – Jul 4, 1916; and from this union thirteen children were born; Robert Lee 1893? – 1973, William Henry 1891? – 1976, Mary Elizabeth 1895? – 1914? , Thomas Lewis 1895? – 1979, Frank Evans 1896 – 1968, Charles Mathew Sr. 1899 – 1955, Lena Gertrude 1902 – 1961, Elsie Nora 1903 – 1955, Sadie Viola 1906 – 1972, Beulah Juanita 1908 – 1981, Susie Alice 1909 – 1961, Virginia S. 1912 – 1996, George Calvin 1914 – 1960.

On April 25, 1954, Lula passed at Western State Hospital in Staunton with her remains being interned in Campbell's Cemetery.
