Mrs. Julia D. Griffin, 72, wife of the late A.C. Griffin died Monday morning, July 21, 2008, in the Burn Center of Doctor's Hospital, Augusta, (Richmond Co) GA, from injuries received in a fire at her home in Brantley County on July 6, 2008.
She was a native of Ware County but had lived most of her life in Brantley County. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Day Lily Phillies of the Red Hat Society.
She was a former employee of Brand Image Cap Factory. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents: Hiran Prester David and Ida Jeanette Crews Davis; a daughter, Susan Shelton; 4 sisters: Cleo Gunter, Marilyn Crawford, Irene Blackstone, and Vernon Stringfield; three brothers: Jack, Archie and H. Davis.
Survivors include a daughter: Katherine Taylor (husband Wayne) of Hoboken, GA; two sons: Dennis Griffin, (wife Priscilla) of Waycross, and Alvin Griffin, (wife Katherine) of Callahan, FL; a sister: Betty King of Waycross, GA; a brother: Gilbert C. Davis of Jacksonville, FL; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, in the Music Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the high Bluff Cemetery of Brantley County. The family will be receiving friends at the home of Billy and Barbara Lee on Central Avenue Extension and from 6 to 8 Friday evening at Music Funeral Home.
