Carl E. Russell, 92, of East Peoria, formerly of Camp Street in East Peoria, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, at his residence.

He was born on June 13, 1916, in St. Clair, Tenn., to Robert N. and Katie L. (Courtney) Russell. He was married to Nina Armstrong, who preceded him in death. Then he married Delma Piland, who also preceded him in death. He then married Joyce Gentry on Dec. 17, 2000.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Louise Burlingame and twin infant sisters; and two great-grandsons.

Surviving are his wife, Joyce Russell of East Peoria; one son, Paul E. (Charlene) Russell of Elizabethtown, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Janice (Ed) Chamness of Wilberforce, Ohio, and Lenora Purdy of Kansas; three stepsons, Jim (Jean) Lancaster of Peoria, David Lancaster of Jereau, La., and Kenneth Lancaster of Utah. Also surviving are one brother, Roy Russell, and one sister, Ruth (Warren) Endly, both of Denver, Colo.

Carl served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946.

He was self-employed as an electrician and provided repair service for Family Furniture and assisted at the Camp Street Mobile Home Park in East Peoria.

Carl was a member of the Christian Life Church and Academy in Creve Coeur and he enjoyed being a part of the Christian Outreach, fishing and hunting.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial of the urn will be at a later date in Oak Grove Bible Church Cemetery.
