A Solemn Requiem Mass and Military Service was conducted at St. Joseph's church in Pierz, Monday morning, August 6th at nine, for Michael W. Flicker, who passed away at his home in Pierz at 1 a.m., Thursday, August 2nd, after a 20-year illness from cancer.
Celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Robert Voigt, with Rev. Frederick Kampsen the deacon, and Rev. Fr. Leisen, subdeacon. Interment was in the Pierz cemetery.
Pallbearers were all nephews, Werner, Melvin, Gerald and Lyle Flicker, Bill Langer and Eugene Gruber. Honorary pallbearers were Legionnaires, George Merkling, Joe Maier, Peter Delhar, John Britz, Fred Dahmen, and Joe Weiss.
He was born at Pierz March 12, 1896, the son of Michael and Emelia Flicker, and died a the age of 60 years. During World War I he served in the Army, and married Regina Boser at St. Joseph's church in Pierz July 3, 1923. They began to farm, but because of illness they moved to Pierz, where the family has resided for 20 years.
Besides his wife, 5 children survive. They are: Mrs. John Block (Elaine), Little Falls; Mrs. Myles Kippley (Wilma), Pierz; and Jeanette, Arlene and Nedra, at home. There are 4 grandchildren.
Brothers and sisters surviving are the following: Frank, Henry, Joe and Alfred Flicker, Mrs. Jake Langer (Verena), Mrs. Christ Morrill (Lena) and Mrs. Frank Gruber (Theresa), all of this vicinity; and Mrs. Frank Preiner (Louise), Mrs. Herb Langer (Leona), and Leo Flicker, all of Virginia, Minn.
Preceding him in death were three children in infancy, one sister, a brother, and his parents.
