Verena Elizabeth Langer, age 88, of Pierz, MN, died July 29, 1996 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held August 1 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with the Rev. Kenneth Brenny officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Verena Elizabeth Langer was born May 1, 1908, in Pierz, to the late Michael and Emelia (Weiss) Flicker. She grew up in Pierz and attended country school north of Pierz. After her schooling she worked at home with her family. She was united in marriage in April of 1932 to Jacob Langer. After their marriage the couple farmed in Agram Township, Morrison County. Her husband Jacob died on April 15, 1958. After her husband's death Verena moved to Pierz. She worked at Gruber's General store in Genola and at the Style Shop in Pierz. She resided in Pierz until her death. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, Christian Mothers and Pierz Legion Auxiliary. She loved playing cards, quilting and socializing with others.

Survivors include her sons and daughters, William and wife Jeanette of St. Cloud, MN, Gerald and wife Kathleen of Pierz, Renee Saehr and husband Norman of St. Cloud, Arlyn Wuellner and husband Otto of Crystal, MN, and Marge Bauerly and husband Brian of Milaca, MN; sister, Leona Langer of Virginia, MN; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daugher, Sharon Langer; brothers, Frank, Joseph, Mike, Alfred, Leo and Henry Flicker; sisters, Annie Gross, Theresa Gruber, Lena Morrill and Louise Preiner.

Casketbearers were her grandsons.
