Funeral services were September 22 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus provided an honor guard.
Victor was born in Morrison County on March 14, 1918 to the late Michael and Antonia (Hurdt) Janson. In his younger years, he was employed with the CCC (Civilization Conservation Corp) serving 18 months in Bellingham, WA and six months at Blackduck, MN, prior to working for Great Northern Railroad.
He was united in marriage to Genevieve Gau on June 19, 1946 at St. Joseph's Church in Pierz. Victor worked at Gottwalt Lumber in Pierz and for the City of Pierz. At one time he served as Chief of Police in Pierz.
In 1950 he built, owned and operated Janson Oil north of Pierz. He sold this business in 1967 to Ernie Tharldson and Ken Kowitz.
Victor organized the Ushers Club at St. Joseph's Church and served as an usher for 38 years, served on the first parish council in 1966, was a member of the Planning and Zoning Committee of Pierz, was active in all phases of the Senior Center and was chosen "Outstanding Senior Citizen of Morrison County" in 1993, was a member of the 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Victor will be rememberd for his Christmas decorations which he started in 1971. He stopped displaying them for a time during the energy crisis and resumed again in 1983 through 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve of Pierz, a brother Alfred of Pierz; sisters, Mrs. Herman (Marie) Jamma and Mrs. Fred (Tillie) Boser both of Pierz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Walter, Ed, Leo, Leonard "Butch"; a sister, Mrs. Gust (Lena) Meyer.
