Irene was the daughter of John Erik and Ingrid Christine Hyllengren Turnquist and wife of Ernest S. Anderson. She had three children, one who died at birth, and a daughter, Lois and son, Donald. Irene was born in Duluth, MN and resided there all her life. She worked for many years as a telephone operator, retiring from that job. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and a great cook. Her children and grandchildren especially have fond memories of her Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve dinners. She always served a traditional Scandinavian meal on Christmas Eve, most memorable of which were the Lutefisk and Swedish rice pudding.
