Born in 1837, the son of Duren Stowell & Asenath Baxter. He married Ruth H. Martin in 1866. Father of Lillian A. Stowell Farwell, Katie K. Stowell Lowe and William H Stowell. He was the Superintendent and General Manager of the Montpelier & Wells River railroad; Vice President, Director and Managing Director of the Barre Railroad Company and general superintendent of the Montpelier & Connecticut River R. R. Company. He owned a home at 17 Barre St in Montpelier.
