SANDPOINT, Idaho, July 1 -- Andrew Christenson, 69, probate judge of Bonner county and united states commissioner here, died today at his home, after an illness of several weeks, following a stroke.

He was the son of Hans Christenson

He married Mary Peterson on 15 Apr 1885 in Freeborn, Minn.

Judge Christenson came to this region in 1888 and settled near Laclede, Idaho, where he lived many years, engaging principally in farming.

In 1907, when Bonner county was organized, he was appointed treasurer, which office he held until 1916 when he was elected state senator. He was in his 2nd term as probate judge.

He was also active in the Masonic Lodge and was a Past Grand Master of the state order; and past high priest, of the Sandpoint chapter of R.A.M.; a past commander of the Sandpoint commander Knights Templar, and treasurer of the commandry.

Funeral services will be held Sunday from the Presbyterian church under the auspices of the Lakeside Masonic Lodge. The Rev. William Westwood will deliver the eulogy.

Judge Christenson is survived by his widow, Mary; three daughters, Mrs. William Hodge of Dover, Ida.; Mrs. R. F. Crawford of Bonners Ferry; and Mrs. James Crockett of Sandpoint; and four sons, Andrew of Omak, Wash.; Victor of Monterey, Cal.; and Carl and Peter of Sandpoint.

SANDPOINT, Idaho, July 2.--(Special) Judge Andrew Christenson, 69, a pioneer resident of Sandpoint and Bonner County, died yesterday at his home in Sandpoint.

Judge Christenson was born on March 1, 1862, in Denmark. In 1880 he came to the United States and settled in Alden, Minn., where he became engaged in railroad work.

In 1888, he came to Idaho and settled on a homestead in Bonner County. For years he ran the first general store in Laclede. He became an active figure in public life and served as a county commissioner before Kootenai County was divided to create Bonner county.

In 1907 he was appointed the first county treasurer and filled that office for 12 years. In 1919 he took up the duties of state Senator. he aided in organizing the Bonner County National Bank, of which he was a director.

Past Grand Master
Judge Christenson was a member of the Scandinavian fraternity and was past Grand Master of that society for the districts of Montana, Idaho, and Washington.

He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a Knight Templar. He also belonged to the Eastern Star and the Lutheran church. He was a past master of Lakeside Lodge No. 42, A. F. & A. M. of Sandpoint, and past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge A. F. & A. M. of Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. William Westwood will officiate. The Masonic lodge will be in charge of the services.

Besides his wife, Marie, Judge Christenson is survived by four sons, Peter of Sandpoint; Andrew Jr. of Omak, Wash.; Victor of Monterey, Cal.; and Carl of San Francisco, Cal.; Three daughters also survive, Hilda Crockett, of Sandpoint, Anna Hidge of Dover; and Olga of Coeur d' Alene.
