Hugh March Jr was born on November 3, 1656 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. His parents were Hugh March Sr. and Judith Knight. He was a Captain and blacksmith. Hugh Jr. married Sarah Moody (daughter of Caleb Moody and Sarah Pierce) on March 29, 1683 in Newbury. They had at least nine children named Sarah (Mrs. Daniel Chase), Henry, Samuel, Elizabeth (Mrs. Samuel Morse), Hannah (Mrs. Thomas Follansbee), Daniel, Mehetable, Trueman and Joshua. Hugh Jr. died on February 27, 1727.
