She was raised in Granville County, NC. She graduated from Oxford Orphanage in 1937. She was a cashier for Liggett & Myers Cafeteria for 35 years and then worked as a waitress, retiring at the age of 79. She was survived by her children, Anne Champion Pickett, Gary W. Champion, and Terry Champion Caudill; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Steven Pickett, Rodney Caudill, Wayne and Richard Champion; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Mason Pickett and Cody Caudill; brothers, Raymond Beck and Paul Beck. Her funeral was officiated by The Rev. Dan Hill.
