Mrs. Pickett was born in Oxford, NC. She was raised and educated in Durham. She traveled extensively with her husband, Charles T. Pickett, while he was in the United States Air Force. She relocated back to Durham in 1980 and was employed with Wachovia Bank for over 18 years. Mrs. Pickett was a member of the Eno Beach Shag Club, the Greater Triad Greensboro Shag Club, and she thoroughly enjoyed dancing. She was of the Baptist faith. She will be wonderfully remembered as a beautiful wife, loving mother, grandmother, and an amazing friend.
Mrs. Pickett is survived by her sons, Jeffrey S. Pickett of Raleigh, Steven Pickett and his wife, Melinda of Durham; grandchildren, Haley and Mason Pickett; brother, Gary Champion; sister, Terry Caudill; and nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Howerton & Bryan Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Gerald C. Goodwin. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
