Preston Henry Stout was born Sept. 30, 1930 in Sac City, Iowa to Preston C. and Louise Emma Christina (Klindt) Stout. He graduated from Sac City High School in 1949. He entered the U. S. Army on January 19, 1951 and was discharged on January 18, 1954. On October 7, 1956 he married Margaret Joan McCorkindale. To this marriage were born three children. On April 16, 1977 he married Shirley Frank McConnell of Sac City. They made their home in Sac City, where Preston was a mail carrier for the United States Post Office for thirty years. Preston was baptized at First Christian Church in Sac City on April 20, 1941. He was a member of VFW Post #590 and American Legion Cantigny Post #195, both in Sac City. On September 17, 1997, Preston H. Stout passed away at Loring Hospital in Sac City at the age of sixty-six years. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Jean. Preston is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Sac City; daughter, Jane Henely and her husband, Perry, of Lake City; and son, Paul and his wife, Lou Ann, of Westminster, CO; five grandchildren, Lee and Joel Henely and Sarah, Grant and Spencer Stout. He is also survived by a sister, Elnora Streed and husband, Ralph Werkmeister, of Sac City; a brother, Harlan G. Stout of Minneapolis, Minn.; two stepsons, Steve McConnell and wife, Pat, of Phoenix, Arizona and Scott McConnell and wife, Julie, of Hartley. He is also survived by three step-grandchildren, Phillip, Ashley Ann and Corey, and his mother-in-law, Harlyn Frank of Sac City. A memorial service for Preston H. Stout was held on Sept. 29, 1997 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Sac City with Rev. Eddie K. Stubblefield officiating. Music was provided by organist Joyce Irwin and soloist Frank Pontious. Military rites and presentation of the Flag were by VFW Post #590 and American Legion Cantigny Post #195 of Sac City. The flower committee consisted of Vicki Peyton, Kris Babcock, Donna Jones, Lisa Phillips and Bonnie Richards. Honorary attendants were Floyd Schnirring, Norman Highland, Lawrence Bentsen, George Youll, Leo and Leonard Boysen. Active attendants were Mark Streed, Jim Frank, Dwayne Sageser, Robert Frank, Ryan Frank and David Youll. Farber and Otman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City, Sac County, Iowa.
