The daughter of Lafeyette E. and Elizabeth (Gleason) Coffman, Mona was born April 29, 1917 in Eckley, Colorado. On March 3, 1941 in Kimble, Nebraska she was united in marriage to Russell Lee Salter who preceded her in death on August 3, 1993. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers, Jay and Jess Coffman.
Mona is survived by her eight children, Morris and Judy Salter of Richmond, MO, Wauneta and Frank Smith of Greenville, South Carolina, Raymond and Joyce Salter of Brashear, Missouri, Joyce Metke of Manteno, Illinois, Wayne and Suzy Salter of Huxley, Iowa, Jim and Judy Salter of Ashland, Missouri, Larry Salter and Belinda Ames of Brashear, Missouri and Lonnie and Kim Salter of Brashear, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Mona was reared in Eckley, Colorado where she attended school. After her marriage, Mona and Rusell farmed in the Eckley area and then in 1953 moved to a farm east of Brashear in 1953. They retired in 1975. Mona was a loving mother and grandmother. She was known in Brashear for making delicious cinnamon rolls and bread. Mona was a member of the Brashear United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Suneral services will be held at 2:0 p.m. Thursday May 10, 2007 at the Brashear United Methodist Church with Rev. Beryl Cragg and John Smith officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
