LEOMINSTER - Charles A. Locke, 98, of 67 Maple Ave., died Friday in Nashoba Community Hospital, Ayer. He was the husband of Maude R. (Snow) Locke. Born in Leominster, Mr. Locke was the son of Cyrus and Mary (Carty) Locke, and remained a lifelong resident of the city. He had been a motorman for the Fitchburg and Leominster Street Railway Co., and was also a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Leominster Lodge of Odd Fellows, Wachusett Grange, Senior Citizen Club, and the Golden Age Club.

He leaves a son, Charles A. Locke, Jr. of East Lempster, N.H.; three daughters, Mrs. Helen M. Gamblin of Lunenburg, Mrs. Esther L. MacKenzie of Fitchburg, Mrs. Eva M. Gallien of Fitchburg; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Richardson and Son Funeral Home, 106 West St. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Odd Fellows will conduct their ritual Monday evening in the funeral home. Sentinel-Enterprise.
