Actor. He began his career in Constantinople in 1908 and went on to become the foremost Armenian actor of his day and widely regarded as the greatest Shakespearean actor in the Soviet Union. His most famous role was as Othello, a part in which he was said to have been the master. He also appeared as Hamlet, King Lear, in Molière's Don Juan, and William Saroyan's "My Heart is in the Highlands". He acted in over 3000 plays to audiences in Europe and Asia.
