HOLLIS, Okla. - Vera Mae Hollingsworth, 92, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hollis Church of Christ with Glen Walton of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis by Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis.

Vera was born Sept. 15, 1915, in Spring Creek, Okla., to George Washington Clancy and Fannie Mae Cook Clancy. On Jan. 2, 1931, Vera married Bobbie Lee Hollingsworth in Sayre, Okla.

Vera and her husband owned a shoe repair and western leather goods store in Hollis. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a faithful member of Hollis Church of Christ.

(A wife of noble character who can find?) She is worth far more than rubies. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat of the bread of idleness. Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned and let her works bring her praise.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie Lee Hollingsworth; an infant granddaughter, Debra Lea Hollingsworth; her parents; six brothers, Luther, Emsley, Tommy, Bill, Jimmy and an infant boy; and three sisters, Dolly, Lois and Susie.

Survivors include two sons, Floyd Hollingsworth and wife Sue of Canyon and Claud Hollingsworth and wife Karen of Amarillo; two daughters, Mary Seago and husband Cecil of Amarillo and Bobbie Morrison and husband James of Heavener, Okla.; a sister, Viola Gardner of Coushetta, La.; 13 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be to Westview Boys Home, P.O. Box 553, Hollis, OK 73550.
