WANDA GALLUP MATTHEWS Of South Jordan, Utah, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2008 in Riverside, California. She was born on May 10, 1939 in Ogden, Utah to Carl and June Oakden.
Wanda enjoyed traveling, camping, swimming, nature and family reunions. She loved planning activities for her grandchildren, family, and loved ones. Wanda worked as an in-home care specialist, lifeguard and taught swimming, dance and exercise classes. Wanda fully participated in all activities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was currently serving a mission with her husband at Temple Square, Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and June Oakden of Riverside, previous husband, Jack Gallup and older brother, Carl LaVon.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Ronald Matthews of 5 years; son, Steve Gallup of Oregon, and daughter Sheri Gray of Utah, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also a sister, Laraine Knight and brothers, Ron and Vergil Oakden.
She will be greatly missed and loved forever by her family and all who knew her.
Viewing will be at Miller-Jones Mortuary, 1501 W. Florida, Hemet on Friday, May 2nd from 6pm to 8pm. Her family and friends will be gathering for Funeral Services on Saturday, May 3rd, 11am at Park Hill Chapel in Hemet, on Cornell Street and Park Hill Avenue.
