REDDING -- Services for John Jack Marlin Gallup, 71, of Redding will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sunflower Building at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in Redding. Bishop Jerry Thomas of the church will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding.

Mr. Gallup died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Redding Medical Center. Born April 24, 1926, in Provo, Utah, he moved to Shasta County in 1980 from Hemet.

He was general director for Northern California United Way, regional director for United Way in southern Oregon and director for United Way in Hemet. He was also a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a referee in Shasta County for 17 years. He also raised money for Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include wife Wanda; sons ...; daughter...; sister Lee Ann Hone of Provo; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America, 3302 Bechelli Lane, Redding, CA 96001.
Arrangements are being handled by Allen & Dahl Funeral Chapel in Redding.
