Thos. Auten Butterfield
after being in poor health for several months, and for the past two months confined to his bed, Mr. Butterfield passed away at his home at 12:30 P.M., Wednesday of this week at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 22 days.
The deceased was the last of seven or eight brothers who settled in southwestern Knox county in the late seventies. Twenty-six years ago Mr. and Mrs. Butterfield moved to Orchard where tehy have since made their home.
Mr. Butterfield enjoyed a large circle of friends and was highly respected and esteemed by those who knew him. His kindly disposition linked with his honorable dealings won for him the admiration of many friends.
He is survived by his wife, two or three marrieed children and a number of grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon from the United Brethern church of this place. Short services at teh house at 1:30 and services at the church at 2:00 with the local pastor, Rev. C.F. Wantz in charge. Interment will be made in teh Enterprise cemetery east of Venus.
