Alva, Oklahoma
Funeral services for Geneva Frances Shurts, 88, of Alva will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wharton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Harold Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Alva Municipal Cemetery. She was born on December 11, 1908 near Freedom to Joseph Eli and Lizzie Catherine "Kate" (Martino) Carver. She passed away on July 9, 1997 at Share Medical Center. She married Peter Herman Shurts on August 10, 1925 in Alva. He died on March 22, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Hazel Lorene Gay; and her brothers, Clyde Lee Carver and Edward Hugh Carver. She is survived by her sisters, Inez Opal Clothier of Portland, Oregon and Leone Josephine Powers of Sandy, Utah.
