King Carroll, 88, of Route 2, Fraterville, died Tuesday, May 1, 1990 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge after an extended illness.

Mr Carroll was born April 14, 1902 in the Stainville community to the late Sally Duncan and Calvin Carroll. He was a former coal miner and had worked as a carpenter for two years in the late 1940s in Toledo, Ohio. Mr Carroll was a member of Fraterville Baptist Church. He enjoyed plowing fields with his tractor at his home and for friends. His wife; Mattie Lively Carroll, died May 13, 1964.

Mr Carroll is survived by three daughters; Edna Bratcher, Helen (Mrs Ralph) Bowlin, and Georgia (Mrs Johnny) Jobe, all of Lake City; and two sons, Otis Carroll and his wife, Reba, of Hobert, IN, and Claburn Carroll Pendelton, IN. He is also survived by three brothers; Jasper Carroll of Calvin, KY, Isaac Carroll of Clinton, and Joe Carroll of Devonia; six sisters, Alice Brock of Caryville, Ruthie Byrge, Inez Carroll, Mindie Patterson, Monie Bell Daugherty,and Polly Byrge, all of Devonia; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be at 2 PM Friday, May 4 at Fraterville Baptist Church with the Rev Bill Thomas and the Rev Edwin Phillips officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, May 3 at Martin Funeral Home in Lake City.
