Joseph is the son of Joseph Chase (1754-1797) & Olive (Woodman) Chase (1756-1841). He has 7 siblings: [1] Mary Chase [2] Daniel Chase [3] Amos Chase [4] Nathan Woodman Chase [5] Olive Gray Chase [6] John Chase Sr. [7] Sarah C.
1st Spouse: Sabra Louise (Wheeler) Chase; Born: 7 Feb 1791-Rowley, Essex, Massachusetts. Daughter of Rufus and Abigail (Spafford) Wheeler. She Died: 29 Aug 1869-Poy Sippi, Waushara, Wisconsin. Joseph & Sabra married on 1 July 1809-Standish, Cumberland, Maine. Joseph & Sabra are fraternal 3rd Great-Grandparents to my husband. They agreed to disagree & separated. We do not know if they actually divorced or just separated. The Military marker by Joseph's marker says he's a Veteran. Because of his birth year & death year it is has been concluded that he may have served during the War of 1812. Still looking for a military record. These are the 10 children, that have been confirmed with Maine birth records, that he & Sabra Louise (Wheeler) Chase had: [1] Israel Pearley(1810-1872) [2] Annis M.A.(1812-1830) [3] Louisa Amanda(1814-1897) [4] Paulina Hazen(1816-????) [5] Joseph Woodman(1819-1889) [6] Abigail O.(1821-1908) [7] Ellen Marie(1824-????) [8] Nathan Oscar(1826-1902) [9] William Wallace(1828-1907) [10] Orrin Lowell(1830-1832). 2ND Spouse: Joseph's 2nd wife is Alphia (Bartlett) Goodwin-Jackson. She was married twice before Joseph. I have not found any records of children connected to her first two marriages. Because Joseph & Alphia had children, it makes Alphia a Half 3rd Great-Grandmother to my husband. I do have 7 children connected to Alphia & Joseph Chase II: [1] Daniel(1831-???) [2] Ormond(1832-1860) [3] John(1835-1865) [4] Annie or Annis(1839-1892) [5] Horatio T.(1841-1905) [6] James Henry(1842-1862) [7] Charles(1843-1928). Ormond, John & James died while serving during the Civil War & are in a group grave. Joseph, Sabra & Alphia are a work in progress. So far we have not found any details on his separation or divorce from Sabra.
