MRS. EDWARD WOOD
Luretta Ethel, daughter of Frank and Alice (Baker) McGlothen [McGlothlen], was born May 1, 1884, at Carlisle, Ia. and died Aug 2, 1964 at Godwin's Nursing Home in Indianola, Ia. at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and three days.
March 11, 1903, she was united in marriage with Edward R. Wood in her home at Spring Hill, Ia. Their home was blessed with seven children. They made their home in Warren County with the exception of two years which was spent in northern Iowa.
Mrs. Wood was a charter member of the Church of Christ at Spring Hill and was active in the church groups, especially the Ladies Aid, as long as the church stood; and then continued with the Methodist Ladies Aid. She was also a charter member and organizer of the Spring Hill Birthday Club.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Wood is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Alice Sparks of Granger; five sons, Dale, Murray, Clive and James of Indianola, and Edward of Norwalk; 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nora Hollings of Des Moines, and other relatives and friends. One son, Donald, preceded his mother in death.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Glen W. Lamb Aug 5, 1964 at the Overton Funeral Home. Interment was in the Webb Cemetery.
