Mr. James Carey Henry Davenport received his education at Rosenwall High School in GA, and moved to Boston, MA. There, he received a degree in Radio, Telegraph and Electronics at the Massachusetts School of Electronics. He married the beautiful Essie Mae Phillips, and they shared their life with their nine children. (One daughter and one son preceded him in death.) Uncle "Jimmy" was the proprietor of the Fairview Radio and TV Repair Shop on Blue Hill Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts. After moving to Atlanta in the 1950's, he continued his chosen profession and became the first Black technician for Southern Bell Communications (now known as Bellsouth). He loved discussing politics and world history and watching Atlanta Braves baseball games. He will always be missed.

Survivors included his wife, Essie P. Davenport; three sons, four daughters and his dear mother, Mrs. Etta Davenport; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
