Born in Novinger on July 14, 1897 she was the daughter of James Samuel Smith and Josephine Sprang Smith. On July 2, 1914 at Novinger, she was married to Pearl Clifton Shumaker who preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1957. Also preceding her in death were one son, Gilbert Shleton Shumaker on July 28, 1968; Goldie May, sister in infancy and two brothers, Pearl Samuel Smith and Carmy Ezra Smith.
Surviving are one son, Harold Floyd Shumaker of Novinger; one sister, Jessie Ellen Fisher of Hannibal; two granddaughters, Sandra Ann Gibbon, Hot Springs, Ark., and Sharon Elaine Butler of Englewood, Col; one grandson, Paul Shumaker of Novinger; six great-grandchildren and several
nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shumaker was a life-long resident of Novinger and southern Iowa.
Private funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of the Foster Memorial Home. The Rev. Archie Cooper will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Novinger Cemetery.
Bearers will be: Gerald Blacksmith, Russell Wellman, Robert Baiotto, Emery Lawson, Charles Gasperi and George
Adkins.
