He was born in Los Poblanos, Bernilillo County, NM in 1817. He died April 10, 1882 in Albuquerque, Bernilillo County, NM. His parents were Juan Nepomuceno Armijo (1788-1830) and Maria Rosalia Ortega (1789- ? ). He was a rancher, sheepman and merchant. He fought on the Union side in the Civil War and obtained the rank of Colonel in the New Mexico Territorial Militia. He built his home and store next to his father's home in the 1880's. It is now the La Placita Resraurant in Old Town Albuquerque.

He was married 1st to Maria Candelaria Otero (1827-~1858), the daughter of Vicente Antonio de la Encarnacion Otero and Gertrudis Duran y Chaves. They had the following children: Francisco Perfecto de Jesus Armijo (1845-1913), Jesus Maria Justo Epimenio Armijo (1846 - ? ), Jesus Benito Armijo (1847-1917), Maria Victoriana Armijo Perea (1849-1867), Maria Teresa de Jesus Armijo Symington Pratt (1850-1940), Mariano de Jesus Armijo (1852-1904), Maria Josefita Armijo ( ? – 1854), Ambrosio Armijo ( ? - ? ), Ana Genovena Armijo (1853- ? ), and Elias Plutarco Armijo (1856-1857).

He was married 2nd to Candelaria Griego (1832-1907), the daughter of Jose Gabriel Griego and Maria Eulogia Romero. They had the following children: Elias H Armijo (1861-1938), Aidlada Feliciana Armijo (1863- ? ), Maria Cristina Genova Armijo (1864- ? ), Juana de la Vistacion Armijo (1865- ? ), Margarita de los Dolores Armijo Borradaile (1866-1957), Rosalia Armijo (1868-1917), Maria Josefa Victoriana Armijo Heyn (1870-1940), Ambrosio Alejandro Armijo (1871-1872), Ambrosio Alejandro Armijo (1872-1927), Adelia Catalina Armijo (1874- ? ), and Maria Ana Francisca Armijo Otero (1876-1973).
