Jewel Lottie Davis

Perkins - Jewel Lottie Davis, 92, loved gardening, flowers, quilting and was very active in her church. She died Friday, March 7, 1997, at Stillwater Nursing Home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at Perkins Church of First Born. Pastor Bob Toland and Pastor Scott Heddleston officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Strode Funeral Home.

Mrs. Davis was born July 12, 1903, in Neosho, Mo., to Mose Albert and Mahala Ellen (Alberty) Nowell [sic-Nowels]. She attended school in the Granby and Neosho, Mo. area. On Dec. 24, 1917, she married Charley Tanner in Neosho. He died in 1926. A second marriage was to Charles E. Davis on Dec. 12, 1927, in Fayetteville, Ark. He died in January 1958. She came to Perkins in 1929 where she worked at Riley's Cafe for 12 years. She was a member of Church of the First Born.

Mrs. Davis was also predeceased by one daughter [Ellen Porter 1983], one grandson and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Porter [deceased 2003] and JoAnne LeGate of Perkins [deceased 2010] ; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
