James Douglas "J.D." Storie
Granite Falls, N.C. - James Douglas "J.D." Storie, 79, of Terrace Drive, Granite Falls, died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at the residence.
He was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Caldwell County to the late Thomas A. and Addie L. Coffey Storie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Storie Parsons, and two brothers, Clarence L. Storie and Frank R. Storie.
Mr. Storie worked for Bernhardt Furniture Industries and was a member of Christian Fellowship Chapel Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Reba Crump Storie of the home; a son, Sheldon Dee Storie and wife, Theresa, of Granite Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Charlie (Cynthia "Cindy") Johnson of Winston-Salem and Ms. Dama Rainey Barts of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. Carlene Summerlin of Lenoir; a grandson, Bobby D. Storie of Icard; and four stepgrandchildren, Brandy Clarke of Dudley Shoals, Aaron Storie of Hickory, Leslye Johnson of Winston-Salem and Trey Johnson of Spartanburg, S.C.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dan Greene.
Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at 2705 Terrace Drive, Granite Falls.
