Mr. Newton was born Dec. 29, 1929, at Hale. He moved to Butterfield in 1986. He was a truck driver. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He married Peggy Allen on May 15, 1947, Chillicothe. She survives.
Other survivors include as son, Rick Newton, Aurora; three daughters, Mildred Davis and Vilma Earp, both of Butterfield, and Connie Ebert, Aurora; a sister Valma Sturgeon, Carrollton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Gunter Methodist Church, near Butterfield. The Rev. Jerry Nickle will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
