Abraham Crooks, a member of a pioneer Linn county, Oregon, family of that name, was drowned Sunday night at his home opposite Jefferson, Oregon, in a sudden freshet of the Santiam river. The water surrounded his home. His horse, saddled and bridled, was found on a knoll near his barn. It is supposed he lost his life in attempt to save the animal. The body was found Monday in some brush half a mile below. He was about 55 years old and crossed the plains with his parents about 1847.
