Robert E. Koinzan, son of John F. and Katie Ulferts
Koinzan, was born Dec. 23,1920 on the home farm outside of
Davenport. He was baptized Feb. 20, 1921, at the Zion
Lutheran Church in Carleton, Neb., and was confirmed at
Christ Lutheran Church on Palm Sunday in 1934.
He graduated from Davenport High School May 20, 1938.
Jan. 12, 1943 he entered the United States Air Force and
served his country until Jan. 19, 1946. After being discharged from the Air Force, he entered into farming at Davenport.
He was united in marriage March 21,1950, to Ruth Bohling
at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Davenport. They made their home in Davenport.
He was appointed postmaster of Davenport, Jan. 14,1966 and remained at that office until his death.
He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, American Legion, and the United States Postmaster
Association.
He died Sept. 7. 1976, in the Fillmore County Hospital,
Geneva, having reached the age of 55 years, 8 months, 15 days.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and a
son, Steven.
Survivors are his wife, Ruth; two sons, Dennis Koinzan of Stromsburg and Craig Koinzan of Calgary Alberta, Canada;
one grandchild, Nichol, mother-in-law, Ida Bohling, Davenport; four sisters, Frieda, Esther, Roma and Rosa; five brothers, Harold, John, Francis, Richard and Marvin. He was known well in the community and is survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sept. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Peter's Church in Davenport.

rites by the Davenport American Legion were in the St.
Peter's Cemetery at Davenport.
Urbauer Funeral Home of Davenport was in charge of
arrangements.
