BRUNING — Francis D. Koinzan, 69, of Bruning died Friday, April 8, 1988, in his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning with the Rev.
Thomas Damrow officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Davenport Cemetery in Davenport.
An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Koinzan was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He also was a lifelong resident of Thayer County.
Survivors are four brothers, Harold of Denver, John of Bartlett, Richard of Lodi, Calif., and Marvin of Elgin; and three sisters, Esther Stewart of Arvada, Colo., Roma Bailey of Macon, Mo., and Rosa Crane of Mesa, Ariz.
Adams-Tibbetts Funeral Home in Hebron is in charge of arrangements.

Francis Diedrich Koinzan, son of John and Katie Koinzan, was born Feb. 6, 1919 at Davenport and died April 9, 1988 at Bruning.
Francis was baptized Feb 26, 1919 in Carleton by the Rev. R.J. Voss and confirmed June 4, 1933 in Carleton by the Rev. A.G. Troast.
His education was received in school district 65 and upon completion of the 8th grade he attended Davenport High School from which he graduated.
On Dec. 15, 1942 he enlisted in the Army at Ft. Crook and served until March 10, 1946 when he received his discharge.
Francis was a lifetime resident of Thayer County. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bruning for many years.
He was married to Eleanor Fritz in 1943 and in 1967 to Clara Brewer. No children were born to either marriage.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and one sister.
Survivors are his sisters, Esther Stewart, Denver, Colo., Roma Bailey, Macon, Mo. and Rosa Crane, Messa, Ariz.; brothers, Harold Koinzan, Denver, John Koinzan, Bartlet, Richard Koinzan, Lodi, Calif. and Marvin Koinzan, Neligh; one aunt, Minnie Wilken, Bruning and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 14 at 2 p.m. from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning with Pastor Thomas Damrow officiating.
Charlotte Sell and Lucille Gerdes sang, "Amazing Grace." Joan Langhorst was the organist.
Casket bearers were Julius Lentfer, Herb Bruning, Duane Messman, Winton Wilson, LaVerle Hopken and James Remmers.
Interment with military rites by the Bruning American Legion Post #166 was at the Davenport Cemetery.
