Nathaniel Waterbury's parents moved from New York to rural Indiana in the late 1830's Both parents perished there, and Nathaniel and his siblings were sent back east to other family members. He eventually found his way back west, and married Emily Catherine Ford Dec. 2, 1856, in Fon du Lac Co., Wisconsin. They soon returned to New York State, enumerated in Genessee Co. in 1860; Rensselaer Co. in 1865; and Bucks Co., Pennsylvania in 1870. Their children were Harry F. (1857-1946), Charles E. (1860-died in infancy), Mary L. (Waterbury) Young (1863-1941), and Charlotte Waterbury (1865-living 1950.)
