Lucretia's mother died in 1839 when she was two weeks old; and her father died the following year. Lucretia and most of her orphaned siblings returned from Indiana to New York state, where they grew up. In 1860, Lucretia was residing in Fon du Lac Co., Wisconsin, where she was teaching school. She married William H. Dee not long afterward.
