Claiborne M. Carpenter

April 11, 1943  -  July 31, 2014


Mr. Claiborne M. Carpenter, 71, transitioned from this life to his eternal life with his Heavenly Father, Thursday, July 31, 2014 at his home. He was born in Wake County to the late Doc Carpenter and the late Odell Lloyd Carpenter. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Earl Carpenter and sister, Marie Davis. Mr. Carpenter operated Carpenter Electric Company.

Mr. Carpenter is survived by his wife, Sandra Carpenter; daughter, Melanie Perry and husband, Robbie; sisters, Doris Shealy of Pinehurst, Linda Wheeler of Durham and a large extended family that included nieces and nephews that he was like a second father to.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday at Gorman Baptist Church with Dr. C.J. Bordeaux and Rev. Julian Motley officiating. Entombment will follow in Brier Creek Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to Gorman Baptist Church at 3315 East Geer St. Durham NC 27704.
