Jeanette Carpenter Bullock, was born to parents, Dock Carpenter and Martha (Blalock) Carpenter on August 16, 1933 in Wake County, NC. She was one child out of 10 children (4 sons and 6 daughters).

Jeanette was preceded in death by her sisters, Mavis Carpenter Reams, Lanie Carpenter Johnson, Marie Carpenter Davis, and infant brother Euston Carpenter, Ronald Carpenter, Claiborne Carpenter, and Earl Miller Carpenter.

She is survived by her remaining sisters, Doris Shealy and Linda Wheeler.

Jeanette grew up in Durham, NC until she moved to Raleigh to work for Dorothea Dix Hospital. She desired to go to school to become a nurse.

It was during this time of schooling that she met her future husband, James "Jimmy" M. Bullock, Jr., who was working there as an orderly. After a brief courtship, they married at ages 17and 18 years old, on November 6, 1950. (Last November they celebrated 72 years of marriage!)

After being married a short while, they moved from Raleigh to Greensboro, where they lived until 1996. They then moved to the country on a 20 acre farm in Climax, NC. In 2022, they sold their home and moved to Mountain Top Senior Living Apartments in Asheboro, NC. That September, due to health issues, they moved to Clapps' Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden, NC. Jimmy died in November and Jeanette died this year early on the morning of June 2nd.

Jeanette worked at Westinghouse Corporation while Jimmy was in the Army during the Korean War. She moved back to Raleigh for a while when she was pregnant with their daughter, Wanda. Later she and Jimmy moved back to Greensboro and 6 and a half years later, had a son, Doug.(Doug died while serving in the Green Berets in 1986.)

They enjoyed their lives as Jeanette worked as a homemaker and Jimmy continued working with the US Postal Service and also the US Army Reserve.

During their marriage they were members of Calvary Baptist Church and Sheraton Park Free Will Baptist Church. When Jeanette accepted the Lord and was baptized, she gave herself completely to the Lord. She helped in the nursery, taught Sunday School, worked in Vacation Bible School, and gave generously to missions and various orphanages.

She and Jimmy loved their grandsons, Richard and Nicholas, Amy his wife and their only great grand child, Harvey. She always said "he's too pretty to be a boy!" She loved his blonde curly hair and big blue eyes.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Forbis and Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, send donations to Authoracare Collective at 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC, 27405.
